"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Carson's first swimming lesson

Matt and I decided that Carson was at a good age to start swimming lessons this summer. We looked into several options, and feel very confident that we picked the perfect teacher for Carson. Mr. Geoff was recommended by 2 great friends whose kids have taken lessons with him for years. He is with The Pool Safety Resource and teaches children out of his own backyard pool. Carson goes Monday-Thursday for 10 minutes a day. He will know the basic skills of survival (floating, in order to rest and breathe, getting to the wall, and eventually the "swim float swim" technique) after 4-6 weeks of lessons. I took Carson on Tuesday to visit Mr. Geoff and watch a couple of lessons before beginning his lessons on Wednesday. This helped tremendously when we showed up on Wednesday for his first lesson. He was very enthusiastic! Mr. Geoff was so wonderful with Carson! I couldn't have been more thrilled to hear him reassuring my little boy that he was safe, telling him what he was going to do, and giving him so much praise. His first time going for the wall... Sweet little hand reaching up...he did it! Mr. Geoff has a nice size backyard filled with a swingset, play gyms, ride on cars, etc. Carson loves to play after he's finished swimming. Daddy and I were so proud of Carson after his first lesson. Of course ice cream was in order!
