"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Our "Weekend of Waiting"

After the status of the baby's progress from our appt. and ultrasound last Thursday, we decided it might be a good idea to lay low this weekend just in case baby Tanner decided it was time. The weekend started off with Uncle Jacob and Brooke coming into town. Carson loves his Uncle Jacob! They have a good time! We celebrated Uncle Jacob's 22nd birthday.
And Daddy's birthday too.
Matt was super Dad this weekend...cleaning and organizing and crossing off things on my to-do list. He took care of Carson and let Mommy rest. They had a blast together! Here they are in their matching St. Louis Cardinals hats on their way to the park (for the 3rd time!).
We had fun hanging out at home and playing in the pool.
Daddy even got in for some fun too!
We finished up some last minute details in the nursery too.
Great Grandma and Great Grandpa came down to Nana and Papa's for a visit Sunday night, and Matt's parents had us over for dinner Monday night. Although we didn't head to the hospital, we had a wonderful, low-key, restful weekend, and are ready to see what this week brings for us!

Somersault

Here's a video of Carson doing a somersault! He has been in the somersault stance for weeks, but couldn't figure out how to flip over by himself until this weekend. This video definitely shows Carson's goofy personality. He is first saying "cheese!" over and over because he thinks we are just taking his picture, then he throws in an alligator chomp or two, and a few jumps and silly faces. We love our silly boy!!

Little cutie!

Carson grabbed his sunglasses out of his diaper bag on the way to Nana and Papa's the other night. He said, "Mom" from the backseat, and this is what he looked like. Too cute!

"Doubling" with Pens

Carson loves to "double" (color!). I was paying bills the other day at the table and he was coloring, but he soon realized my pen looked like more fun than his crayon. So Mommy gave him a pen to use too, and then showed him how to write his name. He kept tracing over his name and saying random letters "I, Y, C" like he was a big boy. Now Mommy will be working more with him on letters since he's been so interested. It's so fun watching his interests change!

Helping Grandpa

Matt's dad came over to fix our broken lock and Carson was very interested in what Grandpa was up to. Charlie let Carson hop up on a chair and help him use the screwdriver, and Carson thought that was so much fun! I got the biggest kick out of watching Carson stick out his tongue and concentrate so hard on using the screwdriver.

38 Weeks

We went for our 38 week appt. yesterday and were sent for an ultrasound to check the baby's weight. Tanner is measuring 7lbs. 13oz! He is healthy and doing great! We were so happy to see his sweet little face up close. Our Dr. is pleased with our progress and now we are just waiting to meet our little boy any day now!

Baby Tanner Update

The end is in sight! I am 37 weeks and 4 days! At my 37 week appt. last Thursday, I was a little over 1cm dilated. I was really excited to hear that the process has begun. I am definitely feeling more tired now, and chasing Carson has become a little more difficult, so I'm really excited to have baby Tanner and begin our new "normal" with 2 little boys! We had an ultrasound done last week too, and Tanner's profile looks similar to what Carson looked like on his ultrasound right before he was born. We are really anxious to see what similarities and differences the boys will have. My emotions gearing up for the big day have been like a rollercoaster lately. There are days I cry rocking Carson to sleep thinking about how fast the time has gone by and I get really emotional thinking about leaving him while we are having the baby, but then I quickly remember how excited I am to meet Tanner and get to know him. I have probably gone a bit over the top preparing for Carson while we are away, but it makes me feel better to know that I wrote everything down for our family who will be taking care of him. Here is a picture of the craziness on our refrigerator! :)

Nursery Pictures

The baby's nursery has definitely been a work in progress over the past few months. We decided to go with the colors green, creme, and dark brown. When we first moved into our house, the "baby's room" had blue carpet, and a floral wallpaper border. Needless to say, this room has come a long way! :)
Carson has thoroughly enjoyed being apart of all the projects Daddy has been working on. He mimics everything Matt does and has to be right in the middle of the action.
When Matt held the level up to the wall when putting up the trim, Carson quickly ran over to another area of the trim and pretended to hold it straight. So cute!
We haven't quite finished all of the small details, such as wall hangings, but we are hoping to get to that this week.

Fun with Shapes

Carson has really been getting into puzzles, blocks, and shapes lately. Recently I got down a shapes set that I had up on a top shelf in Carson's closet and put it on the floor. Carson went into his closet the other day and dumped out all of the shapes, and began putting them in their correct slots! I was totally impressed and proud!

Little fish

Carson loves the pool! Matt's mom's neighbor has a pool that we have taken Carson over to swim in a couple of times this past week, and he is a little fish!
It makes us a bit nervous that he has absolutely no fear of the water and is very quick to just jump in, but hopefully we'll be able to enroll him into swimming lessons soon, and teach him some water safety.
Daddy and Carson had so much fun blowing bubbles in the water and playing. Here's a short video of their fun:

Just like Daddy

I know I say it all the time, but Carson just LOVES to do whatever Matt is doing. Tonight, Carson and Matt went outside after dinner to turn on the sprinklers. Matt has a "bad" habit of not wearing shoes when he goes outside, and it's looking like Carson is taking after his Daddy. They both were barefoot and having a blast playing in the sprinklers when I came outside. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day on Sunday filled with many sweet surprises and events! First it was off to church. Of course the preacher had all kinds of stories about Mom's to tell, and Matt and I got a good chuckle during one of his stories, we both looked down at the bottom of my shoes, and there were yellow ducky stickers stuck to the bottom of them!
35 weeks pregnant with our Tanner Matthew!
When we got home, Carson went into the bedroom with Matt and came out wearing a "My Mom Rocks" shirt. So cute! He also had an "I love my Mommy" frame for me.
My parents, and Jamie, Will, and Hannah all came over for lunch. We opted for the "stay at home" lunch instead of fighting the crowds with 2 active kids! We had a nice visit.
After a nice nap in the afternoon, we headed over to Steve and Lori's to spend time with Matt's mom. The kids had so much fun playing outside and Carson really enjoyed their t-ball set. Aunt Lori taught Carson how to hit the ball and then, "Run, run, run!"
What a fun day spent with my little boy!

Look at my cool shades!

Carson found his sunglasses from last summer in a box I was going through in the baby's room. He knew just what to do with them, even though he kept putting them on upside down, and was quite the little ham when I got the camera out.
He jumped up on the couch to watch his favorite tv show, and had to have his sunglasses on. :)

Jacob's College Graduation

Uncle Jacob graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida last Sunday. We were so excited to be in Gainesville for his special day!
Carson did a great job during the ceremony. He was entertained with stickers, play-doh, coloring, and lots and lots of snacks!

Jacob's girlfriend Brooke graduated last weekend with her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. We are proud of her too!

Jacob and Brooke both will stay in Gainesville for another year to complete their Master's. What a huge accomplishment! Congrats Uncle Jacob and Brooke!
