"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Color Me RAD 5K

A few months ago, my sister-n-law Brooke found this awesome looking 5K called Color Me Rad. It's basically a 5K run where you get powdered color thrown on you at each kilometer. We jumped at the chance to do something so fun, and got a team of friends together.
We showed up wearing all white and were given neon colored sunglasses to wear during the run. They also give you your own "color bomb" to do whatever you choose to do with, so we had a little pre-race color war and started looking pretty before the race started.
There were thousands of people at this 5K, so you were assigned a certain wave time to start your run. We lined up at our assigned time and were ready to go!
Here we are super pumped at the start line and ready to get some serious color on us!
The race started off pretty strong, although it was hard to get a good clearing to actually run a good pace. You can see in the far distance the pink cloud in the sky. That was our first kilometer and we were ready to hold our breath for the first color bomb!
We weren't expecting to get hit in the ears and have color on our teeth, but overall, it was a fun experience. The final color bomb at the finish line was blue, and they made sure to cover you!
At the finish line, I asked this guy to take our picture, and after he took this picture, he told me I had green all over my teeth - how embarassing!! To say the least, we were covered in colors!
The team after the race (minus Stephanie who we lost in the shuffle!)
Our RAD tattoos!
We were shocked to see we looked like smurfs when we saw ourselves in the mirror! Other girls in the bathroom were drenching themselves with water, and the color was just smearing on their faces. We decided to not even attempt to get clean, but to sit on towels in the car and just get home to figure it out!
A much needed Starbucks run was on the agenda for the ride home. We had driven almost 30 minutes before we hit the Starbucks drive thru, and had completely forgotten we looked ridiculous until the Starbucks employee at the drive thru window screamed when she saw us! That was a hard one to explain!
We stopped at Brooke and Jacob's community pool to show the boys what Mommy looked like. They thought I looked pretty funny and Carson thought I had sweat color from my run!
We had such a fun morning and would definitely do it again!
