"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Color Me RAD 5K

A few months ago, my sister-n-law Brooke found this awesome looking 5K called Color Me Rad. It's basically a 5K run where you get powdered color thrown on you at each kilometer. We jumped at the chance to do something so fun, and got a team of friends together.
We showed up wearing all white and were given neon colored sunglasses to wear during the run. They also give you your own "color bomb" to do whatever you choose to do with, so we had a little pre-race color war and started looking pretty before the race started.
There were thousands of people at this 5K, so you were assigned a certain wave time to start your run. We lined up at our assigned time and were ready to go!
Here we are super pumped at the start line and ready to get some serious color on us!
The race started off pretty strong, although it was hard to get a good clearing to actually run a good pace. You can see in the far distance the pink cloud in the sky. That was our first kilometer and we were ready to hold our breath for the first color bomb!
We weren't expecting to get hit in the ears and have color on our teeth, but overall, it was a fun experience. The final color bomb at the finish line was blue, and they made sure to cover you!
At the finish line, I asked this guy to take our picture, and after he took this picture, he told me I had green all over my teeth - how embarassing!! To say the least, we were covered in colors!
The team after the race (minus Stephanie who we lost in the shuffle!)
Our RAD tattoos!
We were shocked to see we looked like smurfs when we saw ourselves in the mirror! Other girls in the bathroom were drenching themselves with water, and the color was just smearing on their faces. We decided to not even attempt to get clean, but to sit on towels in the car and just get home to figure it out!
A much needed Starbucks run was on the agenda for the ride home. We had driven almost 30 minutes before we hit the Starbucks drive thru, and had completely forgotten we looked ridiculous until the Starbucks employee at the drive thru window screamed when she saw us! That was a hard one to explain!
We stopped at Brooke and Jacob's community pool to show the boys what Mommy looked like. They thought I looked pretty funny and Carson thought I had sweat color from my run!
We had such a fun morning and would definitely do it again!

Weekend in Jacksonville

We were all SO excited to visit Uncle Jacob and Aunt Brooke and see their new house in Jacksonville this weekend. Not only did we see their house for the first time, but we also met the newest member of their family too, Emma the kitten! Emma was not too sure what to think about the boys energy!
She is the sweetest little kitty and gave me some snuggles!
Jacob impressed us with his grilling skills and cooked up some delicious hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner. Can't go wrong with the Big Green Egg!
And Aunt Brooke made Tanner his favorite...mashed potatoes and corn!
We had a fun evening just hanging out together. Once the boys went to bed, their new little friend was searching for them. She could hear them talking in their room and kept investigating. It was so cute!
While Brooke and I were running in our 5K, Matt and Jacob took the boys to the pool.
We grabbed some subs for lunch while the boys took naps, then headed to a really fun park by Jacob and Brooke's house. The boys thoroughly enjoyed all the attention from Uncle Jacob and Aunt Brooke.
Climbing up a ropes course...
Uncle Jacob shows how it's done...
Then we walked around the lake before heading home...

We had such a fun weekend and appreciate all of your hospitality Jacob and Brooke! Can't wait to come back and visit again!

Preschool is F-U-N!

We are so grateful for an awesome start to our preschool year! Carson just thrives in preschool and is so excited when it's Tuesday or Thursday! He loves his teachers, classmates, music class, and chapel where he learns Bible stories. On our way to school on school days, he always says "I can't wait to get to school to find out what my job is!" He loves to cut play-doh and use these shape mats to make letters.
They learned all about "F is for Families" last week and made a family tree...
The teacher thought it was so sweet when Carson asked her to put Hannah on his immediate family tree!

He thinks it's just the coolest when he has a homework assignment in his take home folder and eagerly sits down to complete it.
Today was "P is for Pajamas" and the kids got to wear their pj's to school! He was super excited to wear his dino pj's and his dino backpack and lunchbox all in one day!
LOVE our preschool!

A little turtle lesson!

We had a fun time at the park Saturday morning. The boys love to feed the ducks and turtles. For some reason, my adventurous husband decided he should take his shoes off, get in the pond, and catch a turtle for the boys to see one up close. I was shocked he caught one!
We looked closely at all of the turtles features....
Then let the little turtle run back into the water with his other turtle friends.

Rockstar boys!

Carson watched Daddy spike his hair before we headed to our Bible study group Friday night, and he insisted that Daddy spike his hair really high too...
Can't forget the other little guy too...

Daddy/Son Haircuts

Carson has been getting his haircut since he was a year old, but Matt and Carson have never had their haircut at the same time. It was so cute to watch them both sitting side by side!
Thankfully Carson has ALWAYS been a still sitter for his haircuts! He is such a big boy, and a handsome one at that!
TT is about due for his first haircut, but for now, he just sits back and hangs out while he eats his lollipop!

Little Buddies

We spent a nice evening feeding the ducks the other night. Carson and Tanner were so sweet to each other and sat on the side of the pond and watched the ducks swim around.
 Love my sweet little boys!

Animal Kingdom

Our final fun activity for Carson's birthday weekend was a day at Disney's Animal Kingdom!
Daddy and his big 4 year old ready for a fun day!
Our first stop was at the safari ride. We had heard from others that you want to do the safari ride first thing in the morning because all of the animals are out. The boys were so excited! The first animal we came upon was the rhinoceros...
The hippo's gave us a nice up-close look...
And the crocodiles were out sun-bathing...
Matt got an awesome view of the giraffe walking around...
And the boys LOVED the elephants!

They said the ride was a little bumpy, but even days later, they keep asking what our favorite animals on the safari ride were!
Then after the safari ride, we went to DinoLand. This was definitely a favorite spot! There is so much to do, from fossil digging, to rope climbing and sliding!
I was amazed at Carson's upper body strength to climb up this steep ropes course. Matt video taped him climbing up it, and I seriously hurt my foot trying to follow him up. Kids and their unknown strengths!

 Playing peek-a-boo with the dinosaurs!
We beat the rain by exploring in this exhibit.
And once it dried up, we went to the petting zoo. All of the goats, sheep, and pigs were hiding under this pavilion.

 The boys loved these pigs!
We had a blast visiting with some characters. Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger...
And Raffiki from the Lion King!
We were getting close to their usual naptimes, but they kept on going strong! A little ride in the stroller gave them their second wind.
A top favorite was this Lion King show. The monkeys did all kinds of awesome trapeze tricks. So fun to watch and very entertaining!
As you can see, the boys were mesmerized!
The parade was fun to watch too! Our friends from our camping weekend were there, Chip and Dale!

After the parade, we got yummy Mickey Mouse ice cream bars and headed back to the bus.
The second we sat down, the boys were fast asleep on us! We officially had worn them out. What a fun weekend celebrating our 4 year old!
