"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Ouchies!

It's to be expected. Carson is an 11 month old boy that is full of energy and curiosity! I really should start preparing myself for much bigger bumps like broken arms and stitches in the years to come. Let's just say, if Carson is anything like his Daddy, I REALLY should expect it! Our first big bump happened on Sunday while Daddy was on Carson watch. We have a lightweight foyer table that Carson has always been very interested in. He crawled over to it and tried to pull himself up on it but his pj's made him slip and he pulled the table over on him. :( Matt did a good job getting him calmed down and tried to put ice on it. He was fine after several minutes, just has the bump in the middle of his eyes to show for it!

The second bump happened last night while Matt was getting Carson out of his carseat. I had parked too close to Matt's truck not leaving enough space for Matt to fully open the car door, and when he swung Carson around he hit his eye on the corner of the car door. Now this one was scary! Carson was crying pretty hard and had a little gash on his eyelid. We immediately took him inside to be able to lay him down to see what had happened. After awhile he stopped crying but his eye was all puffy and his little cut looked deep to me. I called the Pediatrician and our Dr. told us we should probably take him into the After Hours Pediatrics Doctor. We drove him downtown and spent about 2 hours there. Carson was a good boy letting the Dr. look at his eye, but when it came time to clean it and really get a good look, he wasn't happy! They thought he could probably have used getting the "Dermabond" stitches, but said it would heal on it's own and be less painful for him without the stitch.

This morning his eye is just a little puffy, and his cut is all closed up and is looking great! His one year pictures are scheduled for Saturday...we'll see how fast his little face heals up and if we can prevent anymore from happening between now and then!
