"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates." Deuteronomy 4: 6-9

Ouchies!

It's to be expected. Carson is an 11 month old boy that is full of energy and curiosity! I really should start preparing myself for much bigger bumps like broken arms and stitches in the years to come. Let's just say, if Carson is anything like his Daddy, I REALLY should expect it! Our first big bump happened on Sunday while Daddy was on Carson watch. We have a lightweight foyer table that Carson has always been very interested in. He crawled over to it and tried to pull himself up on it but his pj's made him slip and he pulled the table over on him. :( Matt did a good job getting him calmed down and tried to put ice on it. He was fine after several minutes, just has the bump in the middle of his eyes to show for it!

The second bump happened last night while Matt was getting Carson out of his carseat. I had parked too close to Matt's truck not leaving enough space for Matt to fully open the car door, and when he swung Carson around he hit his eye on the corner of the car door. Now this one was scary! Carson was crying pretty hard and had a little gash on his eyelid. We immediately took him inside to be able to lay him down to see what had happened. After awhile he stopped crying but his eye was all puffy and his little cut looked deep to me. I called the Pediatrician and our Dr. told us we should probably take him into the After Hours Pediatrics Doctor. We drove him downtown and spent about 2 hours there. Carson was a good boy letting the Dr. look at his eye, but when it came time to clean it and really get a good look, he wasn't happy! They thought he could probably have used getting the "Dermabond" stitches, but said it would heal on it's own and be less painful for him without the stitch.

This morning his eye is just a little puffy, and his cut is all closed up and is looking great! His one year pictures are scheduled for Saturday...we'll see how fast his little face heals up and if we can prevent anymore from happening between now and then!

Visit to Leesburg

This past Sunday, Matt and I took Carson up to Leesburg to celebrate my Grandpa's 83rd birthday! We visited my grandmother in her rehab facility and my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Alan were in town from Illinois too! Thankfully, this was Grandma's last day at the rehab facility! She got to come home yesterday after several weeks away from home recovering from a broken tailbone, and other things. Carson, of course, was our entertainment! Blowing kisses, singing "Row Row Row", he is full of energy and keeps us on our toes at every moment!

Hannah is Home!

Jamie and Will brought their new baby girl home on Thursday! Hannah has been such a good girl, hardly crying, and sleeping alot! Last night Matt and I brought them dinner and got to spend some good quality time with our new niece! She was even wearing the "I love my Auntie" outfit that I bought her a long time ago. So sweet! She is an absolute doll. Carson doesn't have too much interest in her just yet. Probably because he is a very active little boy that is constantly on the go, but he smiles at her alot. We were trying to get him to "pat-pat" her feet nicely, but I was a little nervous with him being too close to her!
Matt finally got the chance to hold her and couldn't believe how tiny she is. We don't remember Carson being that small, but we know he was! We are sure Carson will be very protective of his new cousin in the years to come! Although they are 11 months apart, they will be in the same grade because of the way their birthdays fall. We hope they have so many fun memories growing up together!

Chuck E Cheese

Carson and I have been busy this summer with the kids that I nanny for! We have been on several fun outings, the most fun for Carson being yesterday, at Chuck E Cheese! He his big enough now to "ride" some of their toddler games and he had a blast riding this Bob the Builder car! He kept taking his little pointer finger and pushing the "start" button over and over. He tried to stand up a couple of times (although he was buckled in pretty tight!) and would bob his head to the music. I love this stage that he is in right now! He is so much fun!

Hannah Grace is here!

Wow! What an incredible journey it has been for my sister Jamie and her husband Will to hold their long awaited little girl Hannah today! It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how hard we all have prayed for this little baby! Hannah Grace Dozier was born today, August 18th, at 12:12 am delivered by a C-section. She weighed 7 lbs. and 14 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. She has lots of dark, wavy hair and deep blue eyes. She is just beautiful! Jamie's labor was not an easy one. She labored for about 18 hours with not much progression throughout those 18 hours. Jamie developed a fever at one point, and the baby's heart rate was high and then low at different times too. Her Doctor felt is was best for her and the baby to have a C-section around 11pm last night and Jamie was completely fine with that decision. We had a blast waiting for Hannah to arrive, from telling jokes, to playing cards, to laying on dirty chairs trying to get some shut eye, we did it all! She was worth the wait! Carson came up during dinner time and ate pizza with us all. He wasn't so sure about Aunt Jamie and Uncle Will being in an unfamiliar place, be he eventually warmed up and sang his "Row, Row, Row's" from "Row Row Row your Boat". He helped entertain us! We love you Hannah Grace and are so blessed to have you in our family!

Carson is walking!

Carson is a walking boy! He started taking his first steps a couple of weeks ago, but really started moving around on his own this past weekend. This video was taken last weekend at Nana and Papa's house. Carson will be 11 months old tomorrow. He is really cruising this week. He even stood up and walked to Daddy when he came home from work one day. Matt was thrilled! We are so proud of our little angel. He is growing up so fast and we are loving every minute of each stage he has been in.

Duck Park

There's nothing better than a quiet Sunday evening outside! Matt and I love taking Carson to the park to swing and are fortunate to have such nice parks around our house. Last night we took Carson to a park in Wekiva that is filled with duck residents! One of Carson's favorite songs is "5 Little Ducks" and instead of "quacking" he clicks his tongue everytime he hears a duck quack. He loved seeing the ducks and of course swinging.

Picnic on the Porch

Matt and I have been working as much as we can on our new house. Well, it's not a NEW house, it's actually a pretty old house, but it's new to us! We have had some major ongoing projects for months, the biggest one being painting the whole house ourselves! We'll save our home renovations for another, much longer, blog post in the future! Last weekend, we tackled more of our painting project. Carson hung out with us outside some, and took 2 great naps, giving us more time to work on the house. For lunch, we decided to have a picnic on our porch (that's the next big project!) and enjoyed our family time!

Monkey Joes

Carson is an active little boy! What better place to take him than a warehouse filled with huge inflatables with slides! And what better person to go with than his Uncle Jacob, a big kid himself! Uncle Jacob had a few days off of work and drove down from Gainesville with his girlfriend Brooke to spend some time with us. We went to Monkey Joes to burn off some of Carson's energy.
